The Central Midlands Council of Government in partnership with its member governments, the COMET, and the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is planning to conduct a feasibility study for passenger rail service. This study will closely examine the statewide and regional economic and environmental benefits as well as any associated implementation challenges and identify all necessary improvements to support passenger rail service between the City of Columbia and the study endpoints of Atlanta, GA; Charleston, SC; Savannah, GA; Charlotte, NC; and Raleigh, NC.
