Kerex Engineering, Inc. is requesting quotes from all qualified DBE & Non-DBE subcontractors and suppliers for the following items of work including but not limited to; Asphalt, Trucking, Concrete, SWPPP, Electrical, Landscape & Irrigation, Striping & Signage. The Project is more specifically defined in the Contract Documents, but generally includes: furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and services necessary to perform the construction and installation of the following: an approximately 10,500 square foot bioretenion area, including approximately 750 linear feet of storm drain pipes with structures, and additional public improvements including curb, gutter, sidewalk, and asphalt trail improvements as shown in the Specifications, Special Provisions, Project Plans, and other Contract Documents entitled as shown above, now on file in the office of the Public Works Director, to which reference is hereby made for further particulars. Environmental testing of the bio retention area has found that the project area contains arsenic, barium, and vanadium around the historical railroad embankment as a result of former railroad activities. The Project will remove approximately 6,300 cubic yards of soil which are suitable for disposal at a Class III landfill or for use in an industrial site. Trimming of native trees, and removal of some native and non-native trees, shrubs and vegetation will be required to prepare the project site for earth moving activities and installation of park components. New planting and landscaping will be included in the Project as well as new or modified gates and fencing. Site cleaning, restoration, and removal of debris, equipment, and excess material from the sites upon completion of miscellaneous work, including removal of concrete forms, disposal off-site of all unsuitable materials, and cleanup of the site.

Kerex Engineering, Inc. can assist in the payment of a reasonable bond premium. A 100% payment bond and performance bond may be required for the full amount of the subcontract price. Please provide a bond premium rate with your quote. Please note that no contractor or subcontractor may be listed on a bid proposal for a public works project (submitted on or after March 1, 2015) unless registered with the Department of Industrial Relations pursuant to Labor Code section 1725.5 [with limited exceptions from this requirement for bid purposes only under Labor Code section 1771.1(a)]. Subcontractors must possess a current contractor’s license, insurance and workers compensation coverage meeting the owner’s requirements and will be required to sign the standard Kerex Engineering, Inc. subcontract agreement. Hector Barajas (hector@kerexengineering.com) is the Estimator for this project and is available to provide you with assistance to clarify any questions regarding the scope of work, including interpretation of plans, specifications and requirements, bid preparation and obtaining bonds, lines of credit, insurance and any technical assistance. Kerex is a Union Contractor. Any non-signatory subcontractors will be required to sign an agreement for trades covered under our agreements.) Plans, specifications and project requirements may be reviewed at our office in Martinez. Project Requirements: By submitting a proposal, the bidder affirms that they have carefully examined all the bidding documents/Addenda and that from his/her own investigation, they have satisfied themselves as to the nature and location of the work.
