The NYCDEP C547B City Tunnel No. 3 Project is a $500 million initiative to complete and activate the Queens-Brooklyn section of City Water Tunnel No. 3, improving the reliability, redundancy, and efficiency of New York City's drinking water distribution system. The scope includes completing two new water tunnel shafts, rehabilitating seven existing shafts, installing critical water distribution infrastructure, and establishing an interconnection between City Tunnels No. 2 and No. 3.

Project Objectives
• Complete construction and fit-out of two new water tunnel shafts, including underground distribution and riser valve chambers
• Install large-diameter piping, valves, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and control systems
• Rehabilitate seven existing shafts, including structural repairs, corrosion mitigation, and safety improvements
• Establish an interconnection between City Tunnels No. 2 and No. 3 through the Brooklyn Downtake and Shaft 17A
• Construct a new pedestrian ramp and associated site infrastructure improvements
• Complete tunnel disinfection, testing, and commissioning to activate the Queens-Brooklyn section
