Shelby County gives MWBE program final approval

Shelby County will be getting a minority and women-owned business enterprise (MWBE) program.

In an 11-2 vote, the Shelby County Commission approved a measure that will require the County and companies looking to do business with it to more aggressively court MWBE subcontractors and suppliers.

The new ordinance comes after two years of studies and hearings.
