Austin schools approve HUB program proposals

TX News - Published Aug 30, 2016

Last night, the Austin school board signed off on a new historically underutilized business (HUB) program that aims to get minority- and women-owned businesses more involved in Austin Independent School District (AISD) procurements.

Under the new program guidelines, contractors will be required to make a good faith effort to hire HUB subcontractors and suppliers on AISD contracts. Those contractors that do not may have their bids rejected.

Over the next two years, the new HUB rules will only apply to bond projects. Thereafter, they will be implemented districtwide.
