City of Peoria launches Equity Accountability Program

IL News - Published Aug 02, 2022

The City of Peoria has launched a new certification program, known as the Peoria Equity Accountability Program, or PeAP. It is a free certification open to minority- and woman-owned business enterprises (MWBEs).

The certification will include an online business directory for those certified through PeAP and is valid for a period of two years. Certification processes will include uploading ownership documents demonstrating MWBE status, plus any previous MWBE certifications from other entities.

There will also be a PeAP Community Launch event on August 10th of 2022, from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Peoria Public Library, Lower Level 2, 107 NE Monroe Street, Peoria, IL 61602. City representatives and volunteers will be on hand to help attendees get certification applications submitted.

"PeAP will make it easier for City departments, contractors, and vendors with whom we do business, and members of the public to access our list and hire minorities and women, thus increasing our utilization of M/WBEs," said Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Melodi Green in a statement.
