Bill introduced to expand LA Metro preferences program

California Assembly Member Mike Gipson has introduced a bill in the Assembly which would expand LA Metro's contracting preferences and goals to local businesses. Under existing law, LA Metro has a small business preference in the amount of 5 percent of the lowest bidder (meeting all specifications), and is able to establish contract-specific goals for small business participation on certain non-federally-funded projects. The bill would expand these particular provisions to also include local businesses.

The bill may be heard in Committee later in March of 2022.
