New Jersey Transit soliciting input on 2020-2022 DBE goal

NJ News - Published May 13, 2019

New Jersey Transit is soliciting public feedback on its disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) participation goal for fiscal years 2020 through 2022. The proposed participation goal for the period is 21.87 percent. In fiscal year 2018, New Jersey Transit awarded $137.8 million in federally-funded contracts, of which $31.5 million (or roughly 22 percent) was awarded to DBEs.

New Jersey Transit is requesting comment from interested parties on topics including: obstacles businesses have faced in contracting for the agency; the experiences of business owners who believe they have encountered discrimination; the process of bidding on projects with DBE goals; and business owners' experiences in accessing capital, bonding, and insurance.

To provide feedback or review the methodology for setting the participation goal, visit New Jersey Transit's webpage at https://www.njtransit.com/var/var_servlet.srv?hdnPageAction=RSVPTo. The details will be available until May 31st of 2019. That date is also the deadline for providing feedback on the proposed goal.
