City of Memphis launches Buy901 website

TN News - Published Feb 05, 2019

The City of Memphis, Tennessee, has launched the Buy901 website, which functions as a free and public directory of over 500 local, small, minority-, and women-owned businesses. All businesses included in the registry must have certification from a city Office of Business Diversity and Compliance-recognized certification agency.

The website allows members of the public to "search Memphis businesses by name, owner, or skill/trade", and locate Memphis businesses "specializing in everything from lawn care to food catering and everything in between."

The launch of the website follows Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland's State of the City address, in which he referred to the success his administration has had in growing the percentage of city procurement dollars going to MWBEs.
