E-J Electric Awarded Contract for LIRR 3rd Track Expansion Project

E-J Electric in Long Island, New York, has been awarded the contract for electrical infrastructure work on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) 3rd Track Expansion Project from Floral Park to Hicksville, a $1.2 billion project. The introduction of a new third track for LIRR is intended to eliminate seven dangerous grade crossings, reduce traffic congestion and train delays, and enhance the quality-of-life for communities along the Main Line. Major project elements include new parking facilities, upgrades to railroad infrastructure and passenger rail stations, and other local improvements.

They are currently seeking Empire-State-Development-certified and capable Minority, Woman and Service Disabled Veteran Owned electrical subcontractors, system integrators and suppliers for the following opportunities:

LIRR Utility Relocations – Furnish and install poles, hardware and cable that support LIRR communication and signal systems. Scope includes excavation, setting and guying all new poles on the LIRR Right-of-Way which may require work to be performed from active LIRR mainline tracks.

PSE&G Utility Relocations (Grade Crossings) – Installation and relocation of wood distribution poles at various grade crossings on public roadways. Scope includes the install of new 13.2kV distribution conductors and pole mounted devices in accordance with all applicable standards.

PSE&G Utility Relocations (LIRR Right-of-Way) – Installation of steel transmission poles on the LIRR Right-of-Way. Scope includes the install of new 69kV transmission conductors in accordance with all applicable standards.

Traffic Signals (County Roadways) – Furnish and install pedestrian and traffic signals at numerous intersections in Nassau County in accordance with all applicable regulations. All excavation and concrete work to be performed by others.
