Boston SLBE/MWBE Program

The program summary on this page was last updated on 06/08/2018. If any of the information or links are out-of-date, please contact us.

The City of Boston's Small & Local Business Enterprise Office certifies companies as Small & Local Business Enterprises (SLBE), Minority Owned Business Enterprises (MBE), Woman Owned Business Enterprises (WBE).

The city also recognizes Veteran Owned Small Business Enterprises (VOSBE), but they must receive certification through the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.

Once certified as a SLBE, MBE, WBE, or VOSBE, a company is listed in a directory that is used by prime contractors to identify subcontractors for contracts awarded by the City of Boston.

Does this local/state program offer reciprocal certifications with other local/state programs? Application for certification as a VOSBE must be made by first receiving certification from the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, but the other available certifications are made to the City of Boston.
