Minority-owned and women-owned businesses are eligible for certification opportunities through the City of Chicago's Minority and Women-Owned Business (M/WBE) Certification Program. Certifications through this program last for 5 years and are also accepted by some private agencies. To be eligible, a business must have at least 51% ownership by a minority or a woman, and have at least 51% of their business controlled by one or more minority groups or women.

Does this certification expire? Approved certifications are valid for a period of five years.
