Bay Area Rapid Transit MBE, WBE Program

The program summary on this page was last updated on 02/28/2019. If any of the information or links are out-of-date, please contact us.

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) has a minority and women business MWBE certification program that applies to contracts that do not receive federal funding.

While BART also administers a disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) certification program that includes MWBE firms, the MWBE certification is separate and distinct. The DBE certification applies only to federally-funded contracts.

As part of its efforts to encourage MWBE use on non-federally funded procurements, BART may apply MWBE participation goals on individual contracts.
