The Orange County Business Development Division takes charge of the county's effort to help local, small minority and women businesses (M/WBEs) and service disabled-veteran businesses compete for county contracts. To take advantage of these designations, a company must first become certified as a M/WBE. Once certified, a company can attend County workshops, seminars, and be referred to participate on county and other contracts. It should be noted that Orange County's certifications are separate from other local, state, and federal M/WBE certifications.
Does this local/state program offer reciprocal certifications with other local/state programs? Reciprocity is not addressed in the Orange County Ordinance.
How do I get re-certified? A recertification form is available on the County's website. Such an application should be submitted within 15 calendar days of the expiry of the current certification.
