Project Details
The Work to be performed under this Contract and in accordance with these Specifications consists of furnishing equipment, superintendents, labor, skill, material and all other items necessary to rehabilitate the County's 16,600 ± lineal foot (lf) twin sludge force main system total approximate length of force main 33,200 lf ±, as well as additional piping at the WWTPs. This force main system transports primary and secondary sludge from the Mamaroneck Wastewater Treatment Plant to the New Rochelle Wastewater Treatment Plant along Boston Post Road and Le Fevres Lane.
The General Construction Contractor shall furnish all structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and appurtenant work necessary to construct all work as shown, specified and required for the new
Major items of work under the General Construction contract include, but are not necessarily limited to:
Demolition and/or removal of existing mechanical, structural, piping, etc., as required to install the proposed equipment and/or
Locating, excavating and performing point repairs along each force main. Work is to include, but not be limited to, independent (private) utility mark-outs, locating, excavating, dewatering, removal/ disposal, installation of new fittings and/or pipe and site restoration. In addition, additional point repairs may be ordered by the
Replacement of existing custom long radius bends (pipe fittings) on each of the two force mains. Work is to include, but not be limited to, independent (private) utility mark-outs, locating, excavating, dewatering, removal and/or disposal, installation of new fittings, and pipe and site
Independent (private) utility mark-outs, locating, excavating, dewatering, removal/disposal and installation of flexible pipe joints along each force main, at the existing concrete encasement transition where identified on the drawings, including site restoration.
Test pit investigation of existing angle points on each of the two force mains in three (3) locations. Additional locations for test pits may be ordered by Engineer. Work is to include, but not be limited to, independent (private) utility mark-outs, locating, excavating, backfilling and
Installation of a pressure pipe liner in each of the two 8-inch diameter sludge force mains, including draining of existing piping and pumping to nearby sanitary sewer (where necessary), cleaning of existing piping system, independent (private) utility mark-outs, construction of launching and receiving pits for liner installation (where existing control chambers are not adequate), sequencing of liner installation activities due to limited shutdown capability of the force main system and County-required construction phasing, closed-circuit televised inspection of existing pipeline and the installed liner system, testing of lined piping system and site restoration.
Rehabilitation of the 18 existing force main control chambers (access chambers) along the route of the twin sludge force mains as shown on the table on Drawing PP-4 "Control Chamber Rehab.-Plans, Details". Rehabilitation includes, but is not limited to, removals and demolition as required; maintenance and protection of traffic, installation of watertight castings and brick work restoration; roadway, sidewalk and unpaved area restoration following casting installation; accumulated condensation and water removal; high-pressure cleaning and oil sludge/oil-contaminated water removal; crack repairs and concrete spall repairs; replacement of force main piping and pipe supports, pipe saddles, grooved pipe couplings, and drain valves and fittings; replacement of shear gates; replacement of pressure gauge/air release assembly, replacement of air/vacuum valve assembly; painting of piping and valves; and resealing of chamber pipe

System testing and start-up,
Submission of approvable Operation and Maintenance Manuals and As-built Drawings for equipment furnished and work
Coordination with County
Maintenance and protection of traffic in accordance with roadway Owner
