DESCRIPTION OF WORK


A.
The Work under Contract CH058B generally consists of final design and
construction of a new grade-separated crossing together with the associated
approach structures, track underdrain and sewer relocation, dewatering,
modification of the underpinning pier(s) and associated construction of new
pier(s) for the existing Honeywell Street bridge, associated security and
communication work, demolition of existing trackwork and installation of new
track, including special trackwork, and demolition of existing and installation of
new traction power elements such as the cabling, contact & messenger wires,
feeder cables and their supporting structures. The Work will be performed in an
active railroad interlocking and will require close coordination with the ongoing
train operations and force account work performed by Amtrak, LIRR and other
East Side Access contractors.

B.
The details and locations of the Work are indicated more particularly on the
Conceptual Design Documents and the Project Design Criteria. Refer to Section
01 14 00 (Work Restrictions) for the requirements and restrictions regarding the
Design-Builder's access to work sites, material storage and staging areas.
