The Work includes stabilization and rehabilitation of portions of the historic seawall that surrounds Ellis Island.The 6,736 linear feet long seawall was built using a variety of construction systems from 1913 to 1934. Per a comprehensive inspection and engineering analysis performed in 2017, the seawall is is poor condition overall due to widespread deterioration throughout the various types of structural seawall configurations.

Work identified to complete the water and land side repairs to the seawall includes correcting large voids and erosion at joints between gravity wall and sheet pile components, repair of isolated large voids and settlement behind the walls,
stabilizing toe walls, and replacing / restoring displaced granite fascia blocks and grout loss between granite fascia blocks throughout the island.

The Fender system within the ferry slip will be replaced; the supporting seawall has localized cracks that will be repaired and the sea floor has severe scouring that will be addressed with new scour protection.
A temporary berth and fender system will be provided east of the ferry slip to maintain park operations during restoration of the ferry slip north wall.

Project Location: Ellis Island National Monument, Jersey City, NJ. Work occurring in New York
New York is covered under the NY Davis-Bacon Wage Rate determination and work occurring in New Jersey, Hudson County is covered under the NJ Davis-Bacon Wage Rate determination.

The Bidder will be required to quote in compliance with all project plans and specifications. Non-Disclosure Agreements are provided when applicable. Addendum is posted and notification is sent to all invited bidders.

Insurance Requirements
Upon award, Subcontractors must provide insurance in accordance with our subcontract agreement. A copy of the subcontractor agreement can be found in SmartBidNet Project Plan Room.

Bonding Requirements
For subcontracts the Bidder shall furnish Performance and Payment Bonds equal to the full subcontract price. For Material Contracts, the bidder shall furnish Supply Bonds in amount equal to full Material Contract price. Bond premiums are reimbursable by Kiewit/Mass. Electric Construction Co.
