Macro-Z-Technology (MZT) is seeking DBE’s to construct a new pedestrian underpass at the existing Poinsettia Station, located in NCTD Right-of-Way in the City of Carlsbad, and closing the two existing at-grade pedestrian crossings. The existing railroad tracks will be re-aligned farther to the west. The eastern station platform will be widened and the existing western platform will be removed and replaced. Both platforms will be lengthened to a total length of one thousand feet. Approximately 2,400 feet of each railroad track will be removed and replaced through the limits of the platforms.

This project has three bid alternates. Bid Alternate A and B consist of the proposed two new railroad crossovers, located on either end of the platforms. Bid Alternate C comprises of the installation of a new 24-inch sewer pipe crossing the tracks in a 48-inch steel casing and, if awarded, will be constructed north of the station platforms. Work will include grading, demolition, track removal, track shifting, new track construction, including special trackwork installation if bid alternates are awarded, soldier pile retaining walls, cast-in-place retaining walls, furnishing and installing precast concrete bridge components, concrete sidewalk paving, construction of new reinforced concrete platform, installation of new electrical and communication conduits, new platform canopy structures and new station amenities (such as benches, trash cans, etc.), lighting installation, electrical installation, communications installation, security camera and public address system installation, jack-and-bore of steel casings beneath the tracks; sewer work including new manholes, new pipe, connection to existing manhole, and steel casing extension; signal work including removal of existing at-grade crossing warning devices, new signal houses, new conduit installation, wayside signal removal and installation, testing of signal systems; and relocation of PTC fiber optic line; and procuring all the materials and performing all other work necessary to complete the work.

Engineer's estimate for this work, including all additive alternates, is $17,882,453.
