Union City Intermodal Phase II consists of the construction of a 2000 sf. Concourse addition on the east side of the Union City Station and a re-configuration of the existing station concourse, including finish surface upgrades, to provide a fee passage through the station for future connection to 11th Street. Connecting to the east to 11th Street is not part of the project. All improvements being made are on BART property, however BART has obtained a Right of Entry Agreement with Union Pacific Railroad for 15 foot wide access on railroad property to access the east side of the station for construction of the improvements. The reconfiguration will require construction of a new Station Agent Booth and two new platform elevators to replace the existing booth and elevators that will be demolished to enable the free passage. The patron restrooms will be reconstructed and the Station Agent break room and locker room will be constructed on the west side of the station. New fare collection equipment and fare gates will be furnished and installed in the expanded concourse area. Two new end of platform emergency exit stairs will be constructed at each end of the east side platform with safe dispersal areas. The construction includes the abatement of existing hazardous materials. The estimated cost for this work is $10,000,000
