Project Details
Metro requires the services of an experienced site development contractor to construct park site improvements such as, but not limited to: grading and earthwork, utilities, an automated gate, asphalt and gravel parking lots, welcome plaza and walkways, stormwater infrastructure, plumbed restroom facilities, sanitary leach fields, pre-fabricated shelter structures, site furnishings, stone walls and steps, restoration and landscape planting, and regulatory and wayfinding signs. The construction of the trailhead and overlooks will overlap with the ongoing construction by separate contractors constructing the trail network, bringing power service to the site, and building a pole barn. Consistent communication and coordination with the other contractors will be essential to the successful and timely completion of the Chehalem Ridge Nature Park. Nature park improvements and services must meet all conditions set forth in the Construction Contract, Project Specifications, Construction Drawings, and regulatory permits for the duration of the project. Those improvements and services include but are not limited to:
• Erosion control, tree protection and demolition
• Site grubbing, grading and earthwork (tree clearing by Metro)
• Electrical service including new meter base, trenching, vaults, conduit runs, wiring, controllers and electrical appurtenences within the shelters, automated gate, well pump, prefabricated restroom building and extending power service from approximately 3,750 feet away.
• Stormwater drainage facilities with associated piping system
• Paving materials
- Asphalt site entry and access
- Asphalt pavement (passenger vehicle parking lot)
- Gravel paving (equestrian parking lot and maintenance access)
- Concrete pavement (welcome plaza, ADA parking spaces and circulation areas)
- Crushed rock surfaces, stone accents and pavers
• Site preparation, backfill and electrical work associated with the prefabricated plumbed toilet building to be delivered, placed and assembled on site by the manufacturer.
• Site furnishings installation
• Stone masonry seatwalls and steps
• Regulatory and directional signs
• Automated entry gate installation with Contractor Furnished Contractor Installed (CFCI) motors, circuitry, key pads, presence sensor loops, and associated concrete pads for control appurtenances
• Fencing and site security (split rail fence, manual access gate, chain link security fence and slide gate)
• Large picnic shelter
• Small picnic shelter
• Riparian overlook
• Tualatin Valley overlook
• Restoration, landscape materials, lawn, planting and seeding
• Drilling work, casing, and testing of a groundwater well have been conducted at the site. Contractor to establish a fully functioning well system, including: provision and installation of a ¾ HP 10 GPM Grundfos well pump and motor, 82 gal Flex-lite pressure tank (or approved equal), controller and control box, pitless adapter, sample tap, pipe, hardware, services and assembly.
• Existing conditions at the new access driveway, maintenance spur and groundwater well have changed since the site survey was completed. Bids shall include the effort to establish final elevations indicated on the drawings. Also, 390 tons of 2 - 4" rock is available on site for reuse.
• Owner Furnished Contractor Installed (OFCI) work (Contractor to coordinate with the Metro project manager for delivery times and provision of onsite storage prior to installation):
- Auto entry gate arms and posts with associated foundation connection hardware. All assembly and installation of, gate arms, posts, concrete foundations, pads, motors, sensor loops, keypad and emergency access "Knox Box" will be performed by the successful bidder
- Trash and recycling receptacles
- Bike racks
- Unassembled picnic table kits to be assembled and installed by the successful bidder
- Preassembled wood kiosks - assembled roof to arrive separate from posts and panel, roof to be attached to assembled and installed posts and panel by Contractor
- Preassembled benches - bench installation including concrete footings by Contractor
- Operations and maintenance pole barn building

Subcontractor and suppliers opportunities are available but not limited to the following categories of work: Flagging/Traffic Control; Surveying; Rebar; Cast-In-Place Concrete; Concrete Cutting & Boring; Sawcutting; Signage; Plumbing; Electrical; Clearing & Grubbing; Fill & Backfill; Excavation; Dewatering; Erosion Control; Asphalt Paving; Aggregate Supply; Curbs, Gutters, & Sidewalks; Pavement Striping; Fencing; Site Furnishings; Irrigation; Landscaping; Underground Utilities; Trucking (Dump Trucks).
