Description of the general scope of work:

This component of the Lower Chino Dairy Area Desalination and Reclamation Project consists of the design and construction of the facilities necessary to extract impaired groundwater from the Chino Basin Management Zone 2 and convey it to the existing Chino II Desalter for treatment. The groundwater contains excess salts and nitrate, along with volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These facilities will provide an additional source of potable water for the region, remove contaminants from the groundwater basin, and relieve an unsustainable pumping condition in Management Zone 3. Two groundwater extraction wells will be drilled in the southwest vicinity of the Chino II Desalter, located south of the City of Ontario, California. Each well will be equipped to provide an estimated 2,000 gallons per minute of impaired groundwater. Well II-10 will be located south of Bellegrave Avenue and west of Harrison Avenue. Well II-12 will be located south of Edison Avenue and west of Archibald Avenue. The raw water pipelines consist of nine segments that will connect the two new wells (II-10 and II-12), well II-11 (which is also known as well 19A and is being funded by agreement R11AC35306), and the existing CDA I wells to the Chino II Desalter.
